We went night skiing on Friday, March 5th! Half of the hills are solid dirt and ice, to get to Jakes lift you have to SKI ACROSS THE ROAD, Ski Patrol doesn’t wear helmets and the mountain was NOT lit up on half of the runs during the night. NOBODY was wearing a mask and they do not in force social distancing. They don’t even require you to wear a mask in line... It was ridiculous quality and conditions for the prices they charge! We fell into the woods due to the non-lit areas.. We won’t be returning and neither will our families; we left after an hour. Please consider warning others of the poor mountain conditions and make it clear that this is not groomed or taken care of. It was a huge waste of money and we were very disappointed. :(

I am normally a regular at Sundance resort buy three season passes every year. Got in trouble one time going out of bounds yanked my pass for a month and called to sheriff's to file a trespassing report. I was respectfull and explained I didn't realize how big a deal it was I just thought out of bounds was more like out of our responsibility aparantly not no warning large fine seems very excessive for first time affence on the mt.

Here is the thing. I live very close, about 10min drive, but would rather drive 1 hour for better, bigger, and less expensive mountain. I wish Sundance was a lot of things, but it just falls short for me. Here are the main factors that detract me. 1) Very slow lifts that stop all the time 2) Price: Other resorts kids under 10 ski free, not here. I can actually save money going to bigger resort with my family. 3) Only 450 skiable acres, and just not very good terrain. Mix that with the slow lifts and I just don't have much fun.

The $10 rope tow was good for very beginner kids. There are some beginner runs, but you still have to go down fairly steep hill to get back to the lift no matter what. This makes it less child/learner friendly IMO.

Sundance has eliminated the Season Pass for Teachers and other service professionals! For years, this was a great season pass for teachers and services folks to ski at Sundance. Why did you take this away? I used to recommend Sundance to all my co-workers just for that reason!

Sundance is full of gapers so a family that has never skied before would fit in great! Sundance was so nice that they had the local boyscouts build their terrain park! Ski patrol threatens to clip your pass if they see you doing tricks since they say it dangerous!

If you like taking it slow and showing of your gaper gap then you would fit right in!

Summed Up: Literally EVERY time anyone at this resort is asked to do anything “DO NOT” expect it to get done. Management and everyone working at this resort(Other then the maids) are incompetent. Paid for a room told had a personal hot tub, oven and fold out coach for children never received it. Sundance Mountain Resort had tried to move us to another room which was not even cleaned the next day. Snowboard rental show at Sundance Mountain Resort set my family up with snowboards with bindings that were either way to big(ie boots were very loose after bindings were strapped all the way) or binding plate not even tighten/assembled properly and was very “DANGEROUS”. The people who work at this resort do not know what customer service is. I would NEVER stay here again and would NEVER recommend anyone to stay at Sundance Mountain Resort.

Winter Vacation 2015:

In the summer of 2015, I decided to plan a skiing vacation for me and my family( Total of four people). I had called Sundance Mountain Resort due to having questions about the room layouts. After talking to their front desk representative, I was told that the room that I had purchased would have a fold out couch for my children, an oven for cooking(christmas dinner especially), and a personal hot tub. These features are some of the features that attracted my attention when looking for ski resort's in Utah. So far I was really looking forward to the trip I had planned. I had FedEx send all of our snow gear to the resort and had called the resort to let them know that I was doing so. So far so good!

When we arrived at Sundance Mountain Resort at 7:30pm and we were told that our room is not yet ready and that the packages that I had ordered could not be located/they were not sure they even came in. The resort provided us with a free dinner so that they would be able to get our room ready without us having to wait. When we finally get to the room(River Side Upper) they just cleaned for us, we realize that “ZERO” of the features that had promised to provide us with at Sundance Mountain Resort were actually in our room or accessible. At this time, it is 9:30 PM, when we get to the room at the River Side Upper. So we call the front desk and are told, “ We will work on finding you a room with the features you were promised and locating your packages tomorrow”. When we inquired as to why the room we had paid for and talked to their representative over the summer was not provided. We were told that, “ Oh, the owners decided they wanted to come back.”

The next day, we decided to go snowboarding and let the representatives at Sundance Mountain Resort work on the room situation. With all of our ski gear in boxes, I set out in the morning to try to find out where Sundance Mountain Resort had done with them. After going to the front desk then receiving, wasting a whole day of my trip 6 day trip on trying to locate the package I had told them already about. “I” not even the representative at Sundance Mountain Resort finds where/who signed for the package. Finally get the packages after weeks of them just sitting in the snowboard rental shop. We rented snowboards from Sundance Mountain Resort Rental shop, which turn out to either have way to big of bindings(ie your boot will move way before the snowboard) or the binding plate was not tightened(ie the entire binding will move before the snowboard moves). VERY DANGEROUS. We were able to do 1 run before figuring out all these problems with our boards. So we take back the snowboards by this time its 4:00pm. Day wasted! And now I have to go find a new Rental shop so that my family can have fun and do what we came here for. On top of this I receive 0 calls/information about our room situation. I then have to walk to the front desk and ask about our room situation. When I get there the representatives there are oblivious to the fact that we had issues with our room. After explaining to them for the second time, I am told that later that night that I would be able to look at another room that might be more like what they had told us the room would have. At 8:45 pm, we go to the new room to see whether or not it would better suit us. When we get there the room is not even clean and is inhabitable. The service/coordination at this resort is close to zero. We go back to the River Side Upper unit which we were first given. This unit is a very nice unit but it does have many draw back. One being the windows cannot be open/closed because they are completely broken. Zero pans in the apartment and had to rely on the staff to get them(scary).

I am now three days into my trip and I am not satisfied with anything that the Sundance Mountain Resort has provided for us(other then dinner). Huge waste of money!

Save yourself a lot of hassle and money by not staying here.

I love skiing Sundance! If you want to get away from the crowds and ski solid terrain with great snow then Sundance is stellar!

The mountain backdrop is unparalleled with Timpanogos Peak looming in the background. Every where you turn seems to be a postcard picture.

After skiing, the foundry grill restaurant delivers top notch food and service you don't want to miss out on. If you are looking for something authentic and different then you definitely have to take some turns at Sundance.

I get a midweek season pass every year. It is a great little spot that is easy to get to from Utah county.

I always have a great time skiing there. The crowds are small compared to the other Utah areas and people are friendly.

One morning when I was getting my gear on in the parking lot a car load of guys that must have thought they were core drove by and yelled "NICE PRACTICE HILL". I actually think that is a great description of Sundance. It is a GREAT practice hill between trips to Snowbird, Alta or other bigger, steeper, more technical Utah mountains.

We LOVE Sundance!!

Our family LOVES Sundance! It's my favorite resort. I love it because it's small and has a very large beginner area.

I have two small children I have been teaching to ski and I love that there is a large area to teach them so I don't get bored. My kids especially love the "Magic Forest". It's a small area with faces on the trees. It took a while to find the faces which made the area even more magical for my kids. Once my kids started skiing better there were great intermediate areas that were beautiful and fun.

I think Sundance is the perfect family resort. It's great for all levels of skiing which makes it nice when you go in a group. If you don't have a family or little kids, don't let my review discourage you. The resort is not crowded with kids.
